Redwind Pet Resort was founded just South of Norman in 1984 by Jim Baum. Our all indoor facility is centrally heated and air conditioned and is equipped with spacious individual runs. We also have a large outdoor play area for our canine guests and a cattery, with Kitty Kondos, for our feline friends. Our 5-acre countryside location ensures your pet has a quiet restful night.
About redwind & staff
WHAT PEOPLE are SAYING!
Mike bought Redwind in late 2016 from original owner Jim Baum, who decided it was time to retire. He has a real passion for dogs and their wellbeing (has 3 of his own) and is also the founder and owner of OK Canine Corral in Norman. Mike is a Norman native, but after completing undergrad at OSU then an MBA at UCO, he worked many years abroad including Peace Corps in Ukraine and 10 years in Sweden. He is thrilled to be back home now, working with an amazing staff and doing what he loves… taking care of dogs!
Shelby has described herself as ‘sincere lover of all dogs… all breeds shapes and sizes’ which serves us well at Redwind. After starting her career as a dog bather, she now has several years of experience as a full professional groomer. She has experience in dog training, and working with elderly and disabled dogs. She is an advocate of rescue adoptions, and all her animals have been rescues.
Tammy is the quintessential animal lover and we couldn’t have a better person caring for our pet guests! She previously worked many years as a groomer, and has always been active in dog rescue, especially volunteering and fostering for the Doberman Rescue Group. She currently has 2 German shepherds and is active with them in ‘Schutzhund’ (protection dog) training. She also has 4 horses and an Angorra rabbit. A California native, she has 3 daughters and likes fishing, hiking, and working out hard in the gym!
As another of our dog lovers, Amy is also a longtime cat owner and our Redwind Cat expert. She started working with dogs as a teenager for her aunt’s kennel. She also has experience as a dog bather, and has worked with rescues helping with fundraisers, placements and adoptions. Outside of work, Amy enjoys riding and watching moto-cross, watching scary movies, and is an alien enthusiast!
